COVID-19 Update (6/1/2020)

At Cascade Eye Center, the safety and wellness of our patients and staff is our top priority. In March, we postponed all routine eye care due to emerging COVID-19 cases in Yakima County. However, our doctors and staff are proud that we have been able to continue to provide urgent and emergent eye care services to our patients daily during this entire crisis. Taking into consideration the new guidelines laid out by Gov. Inslee, we are pleased to announce that Cascade Eye Center will gradually resume all comprehensive eye care services, including medical and routine annual preventative care exams. Our decision to resume care aligns with the updated COVID-19 safety guidelines published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), American Optometric Association (AOA), Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) and the local and state Department of Health. Our primary focus at this time will be preventative care for those with vision-related medical conditions or noticeable recent vision changes.

To continue to keep our patients and staff safe during this health crisis, we have implemented extensive COVID-19 prevention and safety protocols throughout your visit with us.  Our doctors and staff are taking this seriously, and we will do our part to keep you safe during your visit.  To properly protect our staff and patients, changes include:

  • Wearing a face mask at all times while inside the building
  • Screening for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to entering the building, including temperature
  • Limiting the number of people inside the clinic at any one time
  • Patient’s guests will be asked to remain outside, unless they are a parent or caregiver
  • Strict hand hygiene
  • Routine and frequent disinfecting of all surfaces
  • Social distancing when possible

Our doctors and staff work closely with patients when providing eye care services.  We are asking our patients to wear a face mask before entering the clinic and throughout the visit.  To comply with safety protocols in place, if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you will be asked to stay outside and reschedule your visit for when you are feeling well.  All clinical eye care and optical services will be by appointment only until further notice. No walk-in services will be available at this time.

Cascade Eye Center is open with our normal hours, Monday to Friday.  Our doctors will continue to be available for on-call ocular emergencies outside of these hours. For ocular health conditions where an in-person appointment is not advised due to COVID-19 concerns, we are able to assist you via video conference call (televisit) to meet your eye care needs. Prior to coming in for your scheduled appointment, our staff will contact you to provide instructions and expectations for your visit.  If you have any questions, give us a call today at (509) 966-2966 and we would be happy to assist you.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this unprecedented health crisis. Thank you for choosing Cascade Eye Center as your primary eye care provider. We look forward to see you soon.

Sincerely,
